Chapter 25-2: Intention to Leave
"The prescription for the pills you prepared today, you
should forget it," Luo Sheng stated, catching Wang Dafu off guard. His
thoughts immediately turned to the Qianjin Pill. "And what about the
previous pill—"
Luo Sheng smiled knowingly. "I simply acknowledged that
Wang Dafu is a compassionate doctor, and I won't dwell on the matter of you
using effective medicine to treat others."
During the Tuihan Pill's and Yangyuan Pill's development,
Divine Doctor Li lamented the high cost of medicinal ingredients required for
the Tuihan Pill, which prevented many ordinary people from benefiting from this
pill. Had the cost been more accessible, the Tuihan Pill could have prevented
numerous deaths caused by cold. Whether Wang Dafu utilized the Tuihan Pills for
personal gain or to build his reputation, the ultimate goal was to save more
lives. However, Divine Doctor Li explicitly instructed that the Yangyuan Pill
should not be disclosed to outsiders.
Wang Dafu was elated and expressed his gratitude, bowing
deeply to Luo Sheng. "Thank you, Miss!" "Then I won't delay Wang
Dafu's medical duties. I hope you will remember my words today," Luo Sheng
concluded. Filled with joy and gratitude, Wang Dafu fervently agreed with Luo
Sheng's words and departed with his medicine box.
Hongdou bit her lip and voiced her concern, "Miss, some
people will take advantage of your kindness. They may promise now, but there's
no guarantee they won't become greedy later on." "Is that so?"
Luo Sheng calmly observed Wang Dafu's departing figure. "If that's the
case, he will regret it."
The prepared Yangyuan Pill still requires a specific
medicinal component to take effect. If Wang Dafu goes back on his words, he
might face consequences for his actions. Others can only take what she permits,
and anyone attempting otherwise will face the consequences. Placing complete
trust in someone's word was something she wouldn't do.
The necessary component to activate the Yangyuan Pill was a
pinch of japonica rice soaked in morning dew. The pill needs to be immersed in
this mixture for a short period. While it may sound simple, it is something
that no one can figure out without being informed of the details.
Luo Sheng took Hongdou to Luo Chen's courtyard. Upon seeing
Hongdou was empty-handed, Luo Chen's expression turned slightly sulky. He had
asked Fusong to investigate and learned that on the day Luo Sheng had made him
hungry, she had sent braised pork to Waizumu. Braised pork!
Inequality rather than scarcity is the cause of trouble. It
would have been acceptable if neither side received any food, but here he had
nothing while Waizumu enjoyed the delicious braised pork. The thought of it
fueled his anger, and he had been seething with resentment ever since. Yet, Luo
Sheng had done nothing to alleviate his anger. Nevertheless, he still consumed
the food she sent.
In the end, these were two separate matters.
"What are you doing here?" Luo Chen grunted. It
wasn't mealtime, and she hadn't brought any food. Did she want to chat with him
leisurely? Luo Sheng put a white porcelain bottle with a round body and a
narrow neck in front of Luo Chen. Luo Chen was a little puzzled: Could it be
candied fruit? But he wasn't fond of snacks.
Of course, if Luo Sheng made it, he could reluctantly give
it a try. After all, he hadn't liked fish before, but now he found it truly
delicious... With these thoughts in mind, he reached for the white porcelain
bottle. Just as his slender fingers touched it, Luo Sheng spoke, "These
are pills to nourish your body." Upon hearing this, Luo Chen furrowed his
brow at Luo Sheng.
"There are a total of forty-nine pills. Take one pill
with warm water before going to bed every day. After finishing this entire
bottle, your body should be much better." Luo Sheng explained. Luo Chen's
frown deepened, and after a while, he asked, "Where did you get it?"
"Wang Dafu made it," Luo Sheng replied.
Luo Chen stared at Luo Sheng intently and raised the corner
of his lips. "You tricked me," he remarked. Luo Sheng blinked in
confusion. "How did I trick you?" she asked. Luo Chen sneered,
"If Wang Dafu is capable of making this, he should have given me these
pills years ago. Why would he wait until now?"
Luo Sheng was momentarily taken aback, but she couldn't help
but smile. Dealing with a clever younger brother could sometimes be a headache.
"I came across the prescription by chance in the capital, and it is
certainly effective," she assured. After a brief pause, she added, "I
guarantee it with my cooking skills."
Luo Chen's expression finally relaxed. "Why didn't you
say that earlier instead of mentioning Wang Dafu?" he grumbled. What
irritated him the most was Luo Sheng treated him like a child when he was
already thirteen years old!
