To Hold One's Joy Chapter 11-1

 Chapter 11-1: The Perpetrator

Located in the southern region, Jingnan County has abundant water resources. Despite Luo Chen's weak body, he had the opportunity to learn how to swim as he grew up in the Sheng Mansion, surrounded by his four lively male cousins. However, his swimming skills, of course, were not good.

Immersed in the cold early spring lake water, Luo Chen felt a sense of despair and powerlessness, unable to stop his body from sinking.

Feeling the unexpected push, Luo Chen instinctively opened his eyes. Through the misty veil of water, he saw the young girl's porcelain-white face, her features slightly blurred.

Luo Chen attempted to speak, but as he opened his mouth, he inadvertently swallowed a mouthful of water, causing him to choke and cough uncontrollably. Hongdou swiftly pulled him out of the water, but he was already extremely weak, coughing alarmingly.

Soon after, Luo Sheng and Sheng Jia Lan were also rescued from the lake. A long-faced older maid came to Luo Sheng's aid while Sheng Sanlang hurriedly brought Sheng Jia Lan ashore. As he ensured that she was fine, he immediately handed her over to the maids.

He ordered the servants around the lake: "Hurry up! Take Erguniang and Miss Luo back to their room to change clothes and summon the doctor to check on Luo Chen!"

After saying this, he bent down and picked up Luo Chen, who was coughing continuously, and ran in a blink of an eye. The news that Luo Sheng and Sheng Jia Lan fell into the water quickly spread throughout the Sheng mansion.

A maid wearing green coat walked into Sheng Jia Yu's boudoir quickly, and said anxiously: "Daguniang, Erguniang and Miss Luo fell into the lake!"

Sheng Jia Yu was boringly embroidering because Sheng Jia Lan couldn’t accompany her to visit the rouge shop today, she threw the embroidery frame away and stood up: "Where are they now?"

The maid replied: "The two Misses were called to Funing Hall by the old lady after changing their clothes—" Sheng Jia Yu didn't care to hear the rest of the news and rushed to Funing Hall while lifting the corner of her skirt.

In the courtyard of Funing Hall, Sheng Dalang and the three others had arrived ahead of Sheng Jia Yu. They were standing beside the orange tree, talking in a low voice.

"When I heard that Ermei[1] and Luo Sheng had fallen into the lake, I was completely terrified. Seeing that Biaodi[2] had already jumped to save Luo biaomei, I quickly rescued Ermei." Sheng Sanlang recounted, his expression filled with concern as he recalled the intense moment.

Sheng Erlang frowned: "So, when you arrived, Ermei and Luo biaomei were still in the lake?" "Yes," Sheng Sanlang confirmed. Sheng Erlang glanced toward the entrance of Funing Hall and sneered, "Ermei is truly unlucky," his tone carrying a hint of contempt.

Confused by his brother's words, Sheng Sanlang asked, "Erge, what do you mean by that?" Sheng Dalang, on the side, suddenly interjected, "Erdi[3], Ermei and Luo biaomei are currently being questioned by Zumu. The full details of the incident are yet to be clarified, so don't speak thoughtlessly."

Sheng Erlang's lips curled into a sly smile as he retorted, "Well, let's see if I'm just talking nonsense." At that moment, Sheng Sanlang finally understood the situation and cautiously asked, "Erge, are you suggesting that Luo Sheng deliberately pushed Ermei into the water?"

Sheng Erlang scoffed and knocked Sheng Sanlang on the head with a folding fan. He growled, "Why are you so dense? Do you have to say it out loud? Let me ask you this: If Luo Chen hadn't rescued Luo Sheng, between Ermei and Luo Sheng, who would you save first?"

Caught off guard by the question, Sheng Sanlang faltered. Sheng Erlang's question piqued Sheng Dalang's and Sheng Silang's curiosity, and all three of them fixed their gaze on Sheng Sanlang, eagerly waiting for his answer.

TO HOLD'S ONE JOY  Chapter 1: Devil Incarnate Luo Sheng gazed at the engraved silver incense ball beneath the emerald green curtain. Her eyes, which before had been full of vigor, seemed a little dull now, and the chattering of the little maid in her ears became louder as a result. "Miss, isn't it just a Su Er Gongzi [1] ? If you like him, you could capture him directly, but hanging yourself for him is not worth it, hu hu hu..." Luo Sheng shifted her gaze to the little maid who was crying at the bedside. This little maid's name is Hongdou (red bean), and she can speak and cry at the same time. It's been three days since she heard Hongdou's chatters, and she's gained a general understanding of her situation. Her present body, Luo Sheng, is the daughter of the powerful Commander Luo, the chief commander of Jinlin Guards. She was sent to her maternal ancestral home in Jinsha County, the Sheng family's mansion, where she currently resides, after getti

Chapter 64: Kaiyang Wang's Greetings Luo Sheng returned to the Luo Mansion and went straight to her room, never stepping outside again. Si Nan had been freed, but it left her feeling burdened. After all, her heart wasn't made of iron. Pingli was furious upon learning that Luo Sheng had killed Si Nan. "Didn't Fifth Brother accompany Third Miss? Why did you allow her to lay her hands on the criminal?" he demanded of Yundong. "Third Miss said that she wanted to speak privately with Si Nan... I'm sorry, Eldest Brother, I didn't anticipate that Third Miss would take such action," Yundong apologized, though his heart harbored no remorse. The man was killed in Jinlin Guards Prison, so the news would remain suppressed unless Pingli chose to disclose it. Pingli might have considered leaking the information if Godfather had not regained consciousness. However, now that Godfather was awake, he didn't think Pingli dared to do so. Pingli obviously also un

Chapter 57-1: Divine Doctor's Visit The echo of footsteps resonated as an elderly man emerged from behind the screen, causing Luo Sheng's eyelashes to quiver. In comparison to a decade ago, Divine Doctor Li had scarcely changed. His hair remained silver without a hint of other colors, and his eyes shone with more vitality than those of young people. Time seems to have forgotten this old man, leaving his unaltered appearance to evoke a sense of familiarity in Luo Sheng. However, the same couldn't be said for Divine Doctor Li. He stared at the unfamiliar young girl before him with a grim expression and addressed her sternly, "Where's the Yangyuan Pill?" Luo Sheng handed him a small box. Upon opening it and seeing the pills inside, Divine Doctor Li's eyes shrank. He brought the box close to his nose, took a sniff, and his expression soured. "Where did you get this pill?" he asked. Luo Sheng blinked. Her bright eyes showed surprise. "Yo
