Chapter 52-1: Keep Calm
"Is it true that Miss Luo intends to force Divine
Doctor Li to treat Commander Luo tomorrow?"
"Tsk tsk, having such a troublesome daughter is quite
unfortunate."
"I doubt this Miss Luo's audacity will last for
long."
"Absolutely. This young lady has done little to no good
for years and managed to offend numerous people."
Conversations like these circulated through countless
households in the Capital. With Luo Sheng's return, the attention of the entire
Capital had effortlessly shifted from Commander Luo to her.
In the Duke An Mansion's garden pavilion, a girl with an
oval face sneered repeatedly, "As expected of Miss Luo. She always finds a
way to grab attention."
Among the four Misses in the Luo Family, whenever someone
mentioned "Miss Luo," it was universally understood that they were
referring to Luo Sheng.
The girl seated opposite her offered a faint smile and
commented nonchalantly, "Everything she does is nothing but an
embarrassment. Let's just sit back and enjoy the spectacle."
The girl with the oval face raised her teacup and shifted
her gaze to a cluster of flowers beyond the pavilion. "I, too, plan to
visit Divine Doctor Li tomorrow."
The other girl appeared surprised. "Is it for your
mother's illness? Didn't you mention that your elder brother visited Divine
Doctor two days ago?"
It became clear that the girl with the oval face was the
Second Miss of the Duke An Family; her boudoir name was Hanshuang.
The other girl held an even more esteemed position. She was the
Princess of Pingnan Wang Palace, Wei Wen.
Pingnan Wang Palace is a widely recognized name throughout
the Capital. This Pingnan Wang Palace is truly impressive.
Following the longstanding customs of the Great Zhou
Dynasty, once a Wangye reached adulthood, he would leave the Capital to
establish his territory. He could only return to the Capital with the Emperor's
permission. Yet, seven years ago, Emperor adopted Pingnan Wang's Heir, who
subsequently became the Crown Prince. Under the Emperor's benevolent favor,
Pingnan Wang and his family returned to the Capital to enjoy its peace and
prosperity.
Apart from Pingnan Wang and his family, the only other
Wangye allowed to stay in the Capital was Kaiyang Wang. He had recently reached
adulthood and had not yet departed for his fiefdom. As a result, even though
the Emperor had several nieces, only Wei Wen remained in the Capital. Her
nobility was further elevated due to her connection with the Crown Prince (the
Crown Prince's younger sister).
Zhu Hanshuang's expression turned sour. "Divine Doctor
Li refused to see my elder brother. If Luo Sheng can go to invite Divine Doctor
Li, then I can do the same for my mother."
Just in time to witness Luo Sheng's humiliation firsthand.
Wei Wen was well aware of the underlying feud between Zhu
Hanshuang and Luo Sheng, and she playfully teased, "Hanshuang, are you
still holding a grudge against her for what she did to my Imperial Uncle?"
The one Wei Wen referred to as Imperial Uncle was
undoubtedly Kaiyang Wang.
Zhu Hanshuang blushed and retorted, "Princess, don't
speak nonsense."
Wei Wen narrowed her eyes at Zhu Hanshuang, an even more
mischievous smile playing on her lips. "We're such good friends, yet you
kept this from me. However, I do have some concerns—"
"What are you concerned about?" Zhu Hanshuang
instinctively inquired.
Wei Wen sighed dramatically. "We're obviously the best
of friends. But just imagine, if you achieve your dreams of becoming the future
Wangfei of my Imperial Uncle, won't I have to address you as 'Auntie'?"
This Imperial Uncle of hers was notably younger than her
father and the Emperor. Therefore, the future Wangfei of Imperial Uncle might
very well be someone of her age. The thought of calling someone she usually
referred to as "sister" by the title of "Auntie" felt
somewhat awkward.
The rosy hues on Zhu Hanshuang's cheeks deepened, and she
retorted, "Princess, if you bring this up again, I'll just ignore
you."
The atmosphere in the pavilion lightened as the discussion
shifted to lighthearted matters that concern young hearts.
The following day brought forth splendid weather, perfectly
suited for going outside to observe the spectacle.
