Chapter 54-2: Eager to Help
"Is Wangye here seeking medical treatment today?"
Luo Sheng asked.
Wei Han hesitated for a moment before nodding,
"Yes."
Luo Sheng asked again: "Is it a matter of great
urgency?"
"It's not overly urgent." Wei Han responded,
prompting a subtle smile from the girl before him.
With graceful poise, Luo Sheng bent her knees slightly,
"My Father's condition is critical, and time is of the essence. If
Wangye's situation isn't pressing, might I request your queue number
plate?"
Kaiyang Wang must have come here today for medical
treatment. Based on their recent interactions, he doesn't seem like someone who
idly passes the time. If he hadn't secured a queue number plate, he likely
would have left by now.
He should be willing to use the number plate to settle his
debt. If he was not willing - Luo Sheng frowned slightly. In that case, she
wouldn't hesitate to demand the debt payment. With the number of people around,
obtaining a queue number plate with 3,500 taels of silver wouldn't pose much
difficulty.
A threat? How could this be a threat? Her life isn't without
difficulties too.
The instant Luo Sheng uttered those words, the onlookers
instinctively leaned in to catch every bit of the conversation.
"Am I mistaken? What did Miss Luo just say?"
"Did Miss Luo really ask Kaiyang Wang for his queue
number plate?"
"Unbelievable! Did I really hear that correctly? Isn't
Miss Luo out of her mind?"
Zhu Hanshuang's gaze bore into Luo Sheng, her eyes nearly
shooting daggers. How could Luo Sheng even have the audacity to request Kaiyang
Wang's queue number plate? Did her slight attractiveness embolden her to flirt
with him? Does this shameless girl believe that Kaiyang Wang would be
intimidated by Commander Luo's power? What a joke!
"Fine," Wei Han replied curtly, handing over his
queue number plate.
At this moment, Wei Han couldn't help but feel a touch of
relief. When measured against the humiliation of public debt collection, simply
relinquishing the queue number plate was a far less bitter pill to swallow.
The utterance of that single word, "Fine," struck
Zhu Hanshuang like a sudden blow to the head, leaving her stunned momentarily.
Had she misheard?
The response from the onlookers mirrored Zhu Hanshuang's,
and for a moment, they all fell silent.
Holding the queue number plate, Luo Sheng saluted Wei Han,
"Thank you, Wangye, for your consideration." Her voice dropped to a
hushed tone, audible only to the two of them. "I'll consider the past debt
between us settled."
Without waiting for Wei Han's reply, Luo Sheng firmly
clasped the queue number plate and proceeded toward her three sisters.
Luo Ying and the other two were even more taken aback than
the onlookers. Luo Sheng had indeed obtained Kaiyang Wang's queue number plate!
"What are you spacing out for? Let's go and wait over
there," Luo Sheng approached the three sisters.
"You, how did you manage to do it?" Luo Yue
whispered.
"What did I do?" Luo Sheng pondered for a while
before realization dawned. She lifted the queue number plate and smiled,
"Are you referring to this? Wangye is kind-hearted, always eager to help
those in need[1]."
The onlookers exchanged skeptical glances upon hearing this.
Who would be naive enough to believe such a superficial explanation? There must
be something going on between Kaiyang Wang and Miss Luo!
Wei Han addressed his guard with a composed expression,
"Let's go." Miss Luo is right; he was kind-hearted and eager to help
those in need[1].
Shi Yan trailed closely and sneaked a gaze at Luo Sheng.
Honestly, he held no respect for anyone else now; his respect was solely
reserved for Miss Luo. Master never fails to suffer every time he meets Miss
Luo.
But Miss Luo's dishes were so good... Filled with nostalgic
yearning, the guard hastened to follow his master, who had already mounted his
horse and ridden off.
With Wei Han's departure, the crowd's attention shifted to
Luo Sheng.
[1] Idiom used in this sentence: 急人所急 jírénsuǒjí (be keen on meeting the needs of others).
T/N: Initially, my plan was to use number plate picture for this chapter, but I couldn't find suitable one. As I was running low on ideas, I opted to use "三“ which means third, since our main character is the Third Miss 😉.
Big thanks to Lizzy for the bubble tea (grass-jelly milk tea to be exact)! 🙌
