To Hold One's Joy Chapter 17-1

 Chapter 17-1: Medicine

Although Sheng Jiayu couldn't comprehend Hongdou's expression, her words annoyed her. She retorted, "Who wants to accompany your Miss? Don't talk nonsense!" Hongdou rolled her eyes and shot back, "No need to lie. Why else would you be following us?"

Did she think Miss would share the handsome man with her if they happened to encounter one? What a daydream. Fueled by her anger, Sheng Jiayu decided to tell the truth.: "I followed you because I was worried that Luo Sheng would get into trouble again."

Luo Sheng finally opened her mouth, her tone was cold: "If I were to get into trouble, do you believe you could prevent it?" "I—" Sheng Jiayu desperately wanted to say that she could, but she couldn't bring herself to tell a lie. Thus, she was left speechless, struggling to find the right words for a long moment.

"Let's go," Luo Sheng calmly called Hongdou and ignored Sheng Jiayu. Sheng Jiayu hurriedly caught up and exclaimed, "Luo Sheng, I overheard you!" Luo Sheng halted, raising an eyebrow slightly.

Thinking she had caught onto Luo Sheng's scheme, Sheng Jiayu sneered and remarked, "You were buying random medicine for Biaodi, right? Are you trying to harm him?" Luo Sheng furrowed her brow and gazed at Sheng Jiayu momentarily before letting out a soft sigh.

"What's with that expression?" Sheng Jiayu inquired. Luo Sheng smiled: "My father once told me that the Sheng family is a scholarly family." When Hongdou heard these words, her excitement grew. Governor Luo had mentioned this several times, particularly when he sent Miss away from the capital. He emphasized that Miss should not be self-willed again once she arrives in a scholarly family like the Sheng family.

Dear heaven! The little maid was ecstatic that Luo Sheng remembered something from her past. She eagerly tugged at Luo Sheng's sleeve, causing Luo Sheng to helplessly twitch the corner of her mouth. It wasn't difficult for her to guess that Miss Luo's father would have made such remarks. The little maid had gotten excited for no reason.

If she had Miss Luo's memory, then it would be shocking. In that case, who would she be? Luo Sheng or Princess Qingyang?

"So?" Sheng Jiayu was puzzled by Luo Sheng's mention of her family's scholarly background. She felt lost. Luo Sheng pursed her lips and said, "You don't behave like someone from a scholarly family."

Her words held no mockery or excitement, but they landed on Sheng Jiayu's face like a resounding slap, causing her cheeks to burn with embarrassment. Sheng Jiayu blushed suddenly. Luo Sheng nodded slightly at her and walked a few steps forward before coming to a stop.

Not far ahead stood a tall and elegant young man, around sixteen or seventeen years old, resembling a blooming magnolia. As Su Yao noticed Luo Sheng, he greeted her with a faint smile. However, Luo Sheng continued walking past him without any change in her expression.

Su Yao froze for a moment, then looked at Sheng Jiayu. Sheng Jiayu caught on and greeted Su Yao, "Su Erge."

Su Yao spoke softly, "Are you fighting with Miss Luo?" Sheng Jiayu replied vaguely, "It's just a minor disagreement, not a fight."

"Why did you two bicker?" Sheng Jiayu was taken aback by Su Yao's persistence in pursuing the details of the dispute between her and Luo Sheng but decided to explain. After all, she had known Su Yao since they were children. "My Biaodi caught a cold, and Luo Sheng unexpectedly bought medicine at random for him."

"So that's the case. How is Luo Gongzi's condition? Why did he suddenly catch a cold?" "Biaodi will definitely be fine." Sheng Jiayu bit her lip and said. The family's issue should not be revealed to outsiders, so naturally, she couldn't tell why Luo Chen caught a cold.

Su Yao noticed that Sheng Jiayu didn't want to say more, so he changed the subject: "Usually, Sheng Erguniang and Sheng Daguniang come out together, why are you alone today?" When Sheng Jialan was mentioned, Sheng Jiayu's eyes darkened, and she said vaguely: "Ermei is unwell, she needs to recuperate."

Sympathy filled Su Yao's eyes as he responded, "Both Erguniang and Luo Gongzi being unwell is truly concerning. Daguniang, please rest assured, they will definitely recover soon." "Thank you, Su Erge, for your kind words; I'm going home first." Distracted by her thoughts of informing her mother about Luo Sheng's recklessness and protecting Luo Chen, Sheng Jiayu absentmindedly expressed her gratitude to Su Yao before hurrying off.

Seeing Sheng Jiayu's back disappearing, Su Yao walked towards the Su Mansion, followed by his attendant carrying the bookcase.

THOJ Chapter 1

TO HOLD'S ONE JOY  Chapter 1: Devil Incarnate Luo Sheng gazed at the engraved silver incense ball beneath the emerald green curtain. Her eyes, which before had been full of vigor, seemed a little dull now, and the chattering of the little maid in her ears became louder as a result. "Miss, isn't it just a Su Er Gongzi [1] ? If you like him, you could capture him directly, but hanging yourself for him is not worth it, hu hu hu..." Luo Sheng shifted her gaze to the little maid who was crying at the bedside. This little maid's name is Hongdou (red bean), and she can speak and cry at the same time. It's been three days since she heard Hongdou's chatters, and she's gained a general understanding of her situation. Her present body, Luo Sheng, is the daughter of the powerful Commander Luo, the chief commander of Jinlin Guards. She was sent to her maternal ancestral home in Jinsha County, the Sheng family's mansion, where she currently resides, after getti

Chapter 64: Kaiyang Wang's Greetings Luo Sheng returned to the Luo Mansion and went straight to her room, never stepping outside again. Si Nan had been freed, but it left her feeling burdened. After all, her heart wasn't made of iron. Pingli was furious upon learning that Luo Sheng had killed Si Nan. "Didn't Fifth Brother accompany Third Miss? Why did you allow her to lay her hands on the criminal?" he demanded of Yundong. "Third Miss said that she wanted to speak privately with Si Nan... I'm sorry, Eldest Brother, I didn't anticipate that Third Miss would take such action," Yundong apologized, though his heart harbored no remorse. The man was killed in Jinlin Guards Prison, so the news would remain suppressed unless Pingli chose to disclose it. Pingli might have considered leaking the information if Godfather had not regained consciousness. However, now that Godfather was awake, he didn't think Pingli dared to do so. Pingli obviously also un

Chapter 57-1: Divine Doctor's Visit The echo of footsteps resonated as an elderly man emerged from behind the screen, causing Luo Sheng's eyelashes to quiver. In comparison to a decade ago, Divine Doctor Li had scarcely changed. His hair remained silver without a hint of other colors, and his eyes shone with more vitality than those of young people. Time seems to have forgotten this old man, leaving his unaltered appearance to evoke a sense of familiarity in Luo Sheng. However, the same couldn't be said for Divine Doctor Li. He stared at the unfamiliar young girl before him with a grim expression and addressed her sternly, "Where's the Yangyuan Pill?" Luo Sheng handed him a small box. Upon opening it and seeing the pills inside, Divine Doctor Li's eyes shrank. He brought the box close to his nose, took a sniff, and his expression soured. "Where did you get this pill?" he asked. Luo Sheng blinked. Her bright eyes showed surprise. "Yo
