To Hold One's Joy Chapter 58-2

 Chapter 58-2: Debt Settlement

The crowd immediately burst into a fervent discussion.

"That doesn't add up. Divine Doctor clearly said before that no matter what Luo Family presented, he wouldn't diagnose or treat Commander Luo."

"Guess it means that whatever Miss Luo brought is exceptional, and Divine Doctor couldn't resist it."

"What could Miss Luo have brought? If we uncover Divine Doctor's preferences, we might not need to worry about seeking his assistance in the future."

"Who knows? Unless you ask Miss Luo."

"Ask Miss Luo? No way." Nobody wanted to risk offending her.

"Hmm—just occurred to me, Miss Luo is unfathomable."

"What do you mean?"

"Did you forget? Earlier, Miss Luo asked Kaiyang Wang for his queue number plate, and he handed it over without hesitation."

One person coughed lightly and lowered his voice, commenting, "This might not be about being unfathomable; she's simply thick-skinned..."

The person who had previously commented sneered, "Well, why don't you give it a shot yourself—be thick-skinned and ask Kaiyang Wang and ask for his number plate. Let's see whether Kaiyang Wang will give it to you."

The mere thought of approaching the stoic young Wangye sent a shiver through everyone. Miss Luo was indeed unfathomable!

Shortly after Luo Sheng and her companions departed, someone reported their success to Luo Mansion.

"What? Third Miss managed to invite Divine Doctor?" The usually composed Pingli nearly dropped his teacup in astonishment.

Qisi, the fourth among the foster brothers, was even more taken aback. "Could it be a mistake?"

Yundong interjected, "Fourth Brother, your statement is ludicrous. If a member of the Jinlin Guards can't even get a simple task like relaying news right, how can they be any different from a good-for-nothing?"

Qisi smiled: "Remember, Third Miss suddenly returned to the Capital from Jinsha. Yet, you weren't aware of that, were you?"

These words struck a nerve with Yundong.

He had rushed back to the Capital because of Godfather's assassination, and he hadn't anticipated that something went wrong in Jinling Prefecture. Only now had he received a message detailing the discovery of a Jinlin Guards member's lifeless body. This person was responsible for monitoring Luo Sheng's activities.

"Fourth and Fifth Brother, stop arguing. Let's go out to receive Divine Doctor." Pingli took the lead to get up.

The five brothers stood at the gate and waited in silence. After a while, they spotted two carriages approaching in succession. The foremost carriage, draped in green curtains, stopped first. Luo Sheng and her sisters disembarked from this carriage one after another.

Luo Sheng headed directly to the carriage behind. As Divine Doctor Li disembarked, she slightly bent her knees. "Divine Doctor Li, this way."

Divine Doctor Li nodded composedly, disregarding Pingli and the others as he entered the Luo Mansion.

The entire Luo Mansion was buzzing with excitement because Luo Sheng had successfully invited the Divine Doctor. In stark contrast, Kaiyang Wang Palace remained enveloped in silence.

Wei Han sat beneath a tree in the courtyard, sipping his tea, and called, "Shiyan."

Shiyan stepped forward immediately. "Master, what can I do for you?"

"Take 3500 taels of silver and send it to Luo Mansion."

"Master?" Shiyan was surprised.v

"What?" Wei Han furrowed, wondering why such a simple instruction would evoke surprise.

Shiyan blinked: "Didn't Miss Luo say the debt you owed was settled with the number plate?"

"Just do as I say." Wei Han's expression grew icy. Women can be unpredictable. What if Miss Luo goes back on her words in the future? He is not short of money, anyway. There's no need to be at the mercy of that young girl.

"Yes," Shiyan responded with a distressed expression.

"Wait a moment."

"What else can I assist you with, Master?"

"Instead of you, have your younger brother, Shiyi, to take care of it. As for you, go and clean the chamber pot."

Shiyan: "..."

THOJ Chapter 1

TO HOLD'S ONE JOY  Chapter 1: Devil Incarnate Luo Sheng gazed at the engraved silver incense ball beneath the emerald green curtain. Her eyes, which before had been full of vigor, seemed a little dull now, and the chattering of the little maid in her ears became louder as a result. "Miss, isn't it just a Su Er Gongzi [1] ? If you like him, you could capture him directly, but hanging yourself for him is not worth it, hu hu hu..." Luo Sheng shifted her gaze to the little maid who was crying at the bedside. This little maid's name is Hongdou (red bean), and she can speak and cry at the same time. It's been three days since she heard Hongdou's chatters, and she's gained a general understanding of her situation. Her present body, Luo Sheng, is the daughter of the powerful Commander Luo, the chief commander of Jinlin Guards. She was sent to her maternal ancestral home in Jinsha County, the Sheng family's mansion, where she currently resides, after getti

Chapter 64: Kaiyang Wang's Greetings Luo Sheng returned to the Luo Mansion and went straight to her room, never stepping outside again. Si Nan had been freed, but it left her feeling burdened. After all, her heart wasn't made of iron. Pingli was furious upon learning that Luo Sheng had killed Si Nan. "Didn't Fifth Brother accompany Third Miss? Why did you allow her to lay her hands on the criminal?" he demanded of Yundong. "Third Miss said that she wanted to speak privately with Si Nan... I'm sorry, Eldest Brother, I didn't anticipate that Third Miss would take such action," Yundong apologized, though his heart harbored no remorse. The man was killed in Jinlin Guards Prison, so the news would remain suppressed unless Pingli chose to disclose it. Pingli might have considered leaking the information if Godfather had not regained consciousness. However, now that Godfather was awake, he didn't think Pingli dared to do so. Pingli obviously also un

Chapter 57-1: Divine Doctor's Visit The echo of footsteps resonated as an elderly man emerged from behind the screen, causing Luo Sheng's eyelashes to quiver. In comparison to a decade ago, Divine Doctor Li had scarcely changed. His hair remained silver without a hint of other colors, and his eyes shone with more vitality than those of young people. Time seems to have forgotten this old man, leaving his unaltered appearance to evoke a sense of familiarity in Luo Sheng. However, the same couldn't be said for Divine Doctor Li. He stared at the unfamiliar young girl before him with a grim expression and addressed her sternly, "Where's the Yangyuan Pill?" Luo Sheng handed him a small box. Upon opening it and seeing the pills inside, Divine Doctor Li's eyes shrank. He brought the box close to his nose, took a sniff, and his expression soured. "Where did you get this pill?" he asked. Luo Sheng blinked. Her bright eyes showed surprise. "Yo
