Chapter 21-1: I Do Mind
On her way out of Luo Chen's residence, Luo Sheng
encountered the two doctors, Wang Dafu and Li Dafu. "Wang Dafu, please
stay," Luo Sheng called out composedly. Wang Dafu, carrying the medicine
box, paused and quickly approached to greet her.
Meanwhile, Li Dafu was puzzled by Wang Dafu's reaction. He
couldn't help but wonder why Wang Dafu had been so polite to Luo Sheng
yesterday, even going so far as to bow deeply to her. He couldn't fathom the
reason behind it.
Luo Sheng glanced at the medicine box that Wang Dafu was
carrying and asked, "Are the two doctors leaving Sheng Mansion?" Wang
Dafu hurriedly replied, "The young master's fever has subsided, so we will
return to our clinic for now and come back again tomorrow."
"Wang Dafu, let's talk," Luo Sheng said, pointing
to the pavilion not far away. Wang Dafu followed her to the pavilion, while Li
Dafu subconsciously tried to follow but was stopped by Hongdou. "My Miss
is going to have a private conversation with Wang Dafu. Do you intend to
eavesdrop?" Hongdou questioned him.
Li Dafu blushed angrily but didn't dare to argue, so he
simply left, flicking his sleeves in annoyance.
Luo Sheng glanced at the retreating figure of Li Dafu, then
turned her gaze back to Wang Dafu. Wang Dafu couldn't help but ask, "Miss,
what is the matter that you called me here for?" He felt a sense of greed
for the Tuihan Pill[1] prescription
and couldn't help but feel inferior in front of Miss Luo. But such a noble lady
probably wouldn't concern herself with it, right?
"Wang Dafu, will you be visiting here in the upcoming
days?" Luo Sheng inquired. "Young master hasn't fully recovered yet,
so I will come here for daily follow-up visits." Wang Dafu replied. A
gentle smile graced Luo Sheng's face as she remarked, "That's good. I will
need your assistance in preparing another pill in a few days."
Wang Dafu's eyes lit up with enthusiasm. "Miss, rest
assured, I will carefully prepare it," he assured her. "I am grateful
for your dedication, Wang Dafu. You may now attend to your other duties,"
Luo Sheng said.
Hongdou stood by Luo Sheng's side, watching as Wang Dafu
departed, and whispered, "Miss, I have a feeling that this old man is up
to something." "Why?" Luo Sheng asked, her expression calm.
Hongdou curled her lips: "I've seen many people approach you seeking
benefits."
Luo Sheng smiled, "He is better than nothing[2].
Let's go back and cook porridge." Upon hearing the mention of cooking
porridge, Hongdou couldn't help but salivate. Miss's meat porridge was truly
delicious. She had a bowl this morning, and it was simply delightful.
However, the strange thing is, as Miss number one maid, she
had eaten many delectable dishes back home in the capital, so why did she feel
that none of them compared to a simple bowl of meat porridge? The little maid
pondered for a while and couldn't figure it out, so she stopped thinking about
it. Rather than thinking so much about it, eating an extra bowl of porridge at
noon is better.
Luo Sheng returned to her courtyard and headed straight for
the small kitchen. Qinghong and Hancui, who were engrossed in their
conversation while tending to the fire, brightened up at the sight of Luo
Sheng's arrival. "Miss is back," they exclaimed.
Hongdou shot the two maids a disapproving glare. How
shameless of them to dare to eat the meat porridge cooked by Miss. Luo Sheng
nodded subtly, stepping closer to inhale the enticing aroma wafting from the
casserole gently. It was pure rice fragrance.
"Be sure to maintain this heat and avoid lifting the
lid halfway," Luo Sheng instructed before leaving the small kitchen.
As lunchtime approached, Luo Sheng returned to the small
kitchen and lifted the pot lid. The water and rice blended perfectly, achieving
the desired consistency. Everything was just right. She added pepper, minced
ginger, and other spices and carefully added the marinated fish fillets.
In no time, a pot of fragrant fish fillet porridge was
ready. The enticing aroma of the fish porridge made all three maids
instinctively swallow their saliva. The taste of the previous bowl of meat
porridge still lingered in their minds.
